Cette fragmentation brouille les repères traditionnels d’autorité et rend plus difficile la distinction entre reportage fiable, contenu persuasif, opinion et manipulation délibérée.\n\nParallèlement, les éditeurs, les annonceurs et les plateformes évoluent dans une incertitude croissante quant aux paramètres qui déterminent réellement la crédibilité de l’information. Les présupposés de longue date concernant les marques de confiance ou les formats établis ne tiennent plus dans un paysage où l’attention est volatile, la loyauté fragile et où les publics accèdent à l’information bien souvent en dehors de son contexte d’origine. Les organisations s’interrogent donc sur la mesure dans laquelle la confiance influence encore la façon dont les individus interprètent l’information, interagissent avec les marques ou prennent des décisions. Les enjeux sont considérables, mais les données empiriques susceptibles d’éclairer de manière rigoureuse ces processus décisionnels demeurent étonnamment limitées.\n\nMalgré le rôle central qu’occupe la confiance dans la consommation d’information, les données fiables permettant de l’évaluer de manière systématique ont longtemps fait défaut. L’Étude sur l’efficacité de l’information a été conçue précisément pour combler ces lacunes.\n\nPlutôt que de produire un simple rapport descriptif, le projet a été conçu comme une véritable infrastructure de recherche : un dispositif reproductible permettant d’analyser de manière systématique la façon dont la confiance est générée, renforcée ou érodée dans différents environnements médiatiques — ainsi que la manière dont ces dynamiques influencent les résultats en aval.\n\n## De l’analyse à la plateforme expérimentale\n\nVox Pop Labs a développé l’Étude sur l’efficacité de l’information comme une plateforme de recherche structurée et durable, conçue pour éclairer de manière continue les processus décisionnels plutôt que de produire un rapport unique. L’objectif n’était pas seulement d’identifier des corrélations, mais d’établir un dispositif expérimental capable d’isoler les déterminants de la confiance au sein d’écosystèmes informationnels complexes.\n\nLe programme de recherche a débuté avec la **Phase I**, une étude pancanadienne examinant comment la confiance dans les environnements d’information influence la perception des marques diffusant des messages publicitaires. Notre variante du modèle tient compte de deux types de biais présents dans l'industrie du sondage. Premièrement, nous tenons compte du fait que les firmes de sondage diffèrent systématiquement les unes des autres quant à leur tendance à surreprésenter ou à sous-représenter certains segments de l'électorat. Par exemple, par rapport à la moyenne de l'industrie, certaines firmes pourraient surreprésenter les électeurs du Parti progressiste-conservateur; d'autres, ceux du NPD. Le modèle tient compte de ces écarts de manière dynamique, de sorte que chaque sondage publié est filtré en fonction de notre estimation courante de ce biais. Des sondages couvrant plusieurs années sont utilisés pour calculer ces « biais maison », lesquels sont eux-mêmes recalculés chaque fois qu'un nouveau sondage est publié. Lorsqu'un nouveau sondage est publié, les estimations de la part du vote pour cette journée deviennent essentiellement une moyenne pondérée entre l'information tirée du nouveau sondage et celle portant sur l'état des intentions de vote de la veille. Ainsi, les sondages aberrants (comme tous les autres) sont en quelque sorte ramenés vers les prévisions du jour précédent. Sur le plan visuel, cela signifie que l'évolution des intentions de vote dans le temps apparaît relativement lisse, ce à quoi on s'attendrait dans la réalité.\nCette approche se distingue d'autres modèles de prévision au Canada, où l'on peut observer des fluctuations relativement marquées d'une publication de sondage à l'autre. Malheureusement, ces variations amènent de nombreux commentateurs au Canada à spéculer sur de grands mouvements au sein de l'électorat, qu'ils attribuent à divers facteurs liés à la campagne, même si aucun changement substantiel ne se produit dans les faits. Un avantage supplémentaire de notre approche est qu'une nouvelle prévision peut être publiée chaque jour de la campagne, même en l'absence de nouveau sondage, et que nous sommes en mesure d'estimer les intentions de vote pour chaque jour de la campagne.\n\nPour estimer la part du vote à l'échelle régionale, nous utilisons un modèle distinct dont la structure de base est la même que celle du modèle national. Nous ajustons ensuite les résultats régionaux de manière proportionnelle afin qu'ils concordent avec les estimations issues des prévisions nationales. En ce qui concerne les prévisions par circonscription, étant donné que les limites des circonscriptions fédérales ont été redécoupées depuis la dernière élection fédérale, nous utilisons les données d'Élections Canada pour transposer les résultats de l'élection précédente dans les circonscriptions actuelles. Pour produire des estimations dans chaque circonscription, nous ajustons proportionnellement les résultats de chaque parti afin qu'ils correspondent aux prévisions régionales (et nationales) de la part du vote. En plus de ces variations uniformes, nous tenons compte des candidatures de députés sortants dans une circonscription qu'ils ont déjà représentée. Il convient de souligner que le degré d'incertitude associé à ces projections est le plus élevé à l'échelle des circonscriptions individuelles.
