«Vox Pop» vient du latin vox populi, qui signifie: «la voix du peuple.»

Nowadays, a vox pop is a technique journalists use, where they interview people at random to capture opinions from a supposed cross-section of the population. This approach gives you data that is definitely not representative of true, widespread public opinion.

But we asked ourselves, “what if you could conduct so many simultaneous vox pops that you actually did end up with statistically significant, representative public opinion data?”

At Vox Pop Labs, that’s what we do. In the time it would take a journalist to interview one person, we can survey hundreds of thousands of people. As a team with deep technical and academic experience, we then use our statistical models to turn these anecdotal insights into useful, representative data.

Most importantly: we use our powers for good. We create user-friendly apps that allow individual people to get super-personalized insights on subjects that matter to them. And we partner with organizations that are looking to conduct meaningful research to better power their own decision making.

Our digital products, Vote Compass and Degree Hub, help support the decision making process for individuals facing complex choices (who to vote for, and where to go to college, respectively). Backed by rigorous machine learning and data science, these tools help people to navigate enormous amounts of information, and contextualize it relative to their own preferences. We work with leading media organizations around the world to offer these tools to their audiences.

When conducting custom public opinion research, we also offer the option to go above and beyond. We often work with partner organizations to build innovative digital products, so people can participate in these studies and navigate the data in novel (and enlightening) ways.
